Vocabulary Words and Example of Usage

1. ancient – Something ancient is very, very old.
2. distant – Something distant is very far away.
3. sentries – Sentries are people who stand as guards around a camp, building, or other area.
4. glistens – Something that glistens looks wet and shiny.
5. embedded– If an object is embedded in something, it is stuck firmly in it.
6. cascading – Cascading water falls or rushes downward very fast.
7. weary– If you are weary, you are very tired from working hard at something and you want to stop.
8. eroding – Something that is eroding is being slowly scraped away a little at a time, often by the force of moving water or strong wind.

7. complicated– Something that is complicated has many parts that are connected in ways that make it hard to understand.
8. eerie – Something that is eerie is strange and makes people feel afraid.

CRCT is over!!!

I just wanted to thank everyone for our great week of testing and for the wonderful snacks that were shared with everyone. First, everyone came ready to take the test every day. This is a first in all my years of teaching. Second, as I walked around monitoring the test, I could tell that the students were actively engaged and trying their best. Last but not least, the student enjoyed the wonderful snacks that you all provided. I will keep the extras and share them periodically with the class.

What? You want me to think of CRCT over spring break?

Of course I do. Please remember that CRCT starts the Tuesday we return from spring break. So take a break from the video games and the swimming pool. Stop watching so much TV. When you come in from the beach or playing a ball game, take time to review. Here are some easy ways: Use your Coach Books and review with an adult, Take a practice test on the OAS website, or You can review and practice on the Coach Connected website. You can also play math and reading games on the web. Anything that gets your mind working is good for you. We are also going to need snacks for the CRCT. While you are out shopping this week, can you please buy a snack or some drinks to share with your class? Individually packaged snacks and drinks are easier than those that are not. For example, a pack of crackers and a juice box is a lot easier than a box on vanilla wafers and a two liter bottle. Thanks and have a great holiday!! Mr. Toney
